Piece of Advice to my Younger Self
I wish I could share with my younger self that dismantling ego and pride in a moment of weakness creates a new level of emotional intelligence and resilience in the face of adversity. My desire to play football at the collegiate level, and the opportunities I had from receiving many different university offers, all came to an abrupt stop once I injured my left knee. I saw the un-circumstantial event of injuring myself and not fulfilling my opportunities as failing. Rather than this event disabling my potential, I harnessed my ability to forge a new dream. I witnessed my foundation of ambition, commitment, and hard work placed a new drive for passion in my life, focusing on areas of growth that placed academics as my focus point. Failure is evident, but with time, preparation, and dedication, one’s failures can be used to grow success.
